All four stores either held steady or came down slightly.
Woolies dropped $0.50 (from $82.64 to $82.14). Coles edged down $0.11 (from $73.55 to $73.44). Aldi was unchanged at $77.63. IGA fell $7.40 (from $103.92 to $96.52), the biggest swing of the week, though with one item still missing that figure needs a grain of salt.
We don't have a confirmed reason for IGA's drop, so we won't guess. It's possible a promoted item or a stock change accounts for it.
Where the big price gaps are
A few items this week have gaps wide enough to matter:
- Chicken breast fillets: $4.99 at Aldi vs $14.20 at Coles. That's not a typo. This is the single biggest dollar gap in the basket this week and it alone could flip which store wins for your household.
- Weet-Bix: $6.88 at Aldi vs $17.20 at IGA. Nearly $10.32 on one box of cereal.
